Photo booth rentals are a growing trend at school dances, weddings, and birthday parties, so why not cash in on this for your next fundraising event. These tips can help you make the most of a booth at your event.

Pick the Right Booth

You need to balance the booth package with your fundraising goals in order to get the best bang for your buck. The type of booth depends on your budget and what the rental company has available. You can simply rent the booth and equipment and operate it yourself, or you can do a full rental that includes a fully trained host/photographer.

If you have someone on your event's volunteer staff that is skilled at the use of digital photography equipment, simply renting the equipment may work well. If not, it's well worth it to hire a host so that the photos produced are of good quality. There is also a third option, where the booth comes with all the necessary equipment for the user to operate it, much like the mall-style booths, so that you only need a person managing the line and taking donations.

Go With a Theme

Themes make a photo booth more fun, because your guests will feel like they are creating a souvenir. The more unique the theme, the more likely people will want a photograph.

Try to match the theme to event's theme. For example, western-style props for a cowboy luncheon, or animal props for a children's fundraiser. The rental company may even be able to provide photo background choices, either inside the booth or added digitally, that will match your theme.

Provide Some Props

Props are what makes a photo booth fun. Rental companies often have a range of props you can choose from, which can help simplify the process if they have some that match your theme.

If you must supply your own props, go the inexpensive route. You can create facial hair, hats, glasses, and more by simply cutting the shapes from cardstock and gluing them to a stick. Your guests simply hold the prop in place by the stick.

Another idea is to check out the thrift stores for extra props. Hippy-style clothing, funky hats, and scarves can all make the booth more fun.

You will need to have a requested donation amount for each photo booth session that ensures you make enough to help your fundraiser and cover the booth's rental fees. In some cases, you may be able to give guests the ability to order extras, such as mugs or key chains, using their photos. This will increase your donations for very little effort.
