Videos are a critical part of memorializing most weddings. Understandably, this means couples and organizers need to know what to look for in wedding videography packages. If you're looking for a video package for a wedding, make sure it includes these five features.

List of Deliverables

Ultimately, you want the videographers to deliver a certain number of videos covering the event from several angles. The package should include a statement of the deliverables. If you want a 10-minute video of the exchange of vows, that should be stated in the package.

The list of deliverables should extend to the videos themselves. If you want digital and DVD copies, for example, make sure that's in the package. Similarly, you should ask about usage rights, especially if you want to share the videos on social media. It never hurts to be very specific regarding the deliverables, including intangible versions.

Hours of Availability

When you check out videography packages for weddings, you will want to know the team of shooters will be present during specific hours. If you're going to need the videographers for two hours during the ceremony and four more hours later at the reception, be specific about the times. Not only does this protect everyone's interest, but it clarifies what the schedule will be. Do not arrange videography until you know the hours you'll need the company to have people available.

Number of Videographers

Videography packages for weddings should also state how many people will be shooting the event. Likewise, it should tie those numbers to the list of deliverables so you can know how many people will be handling each task.

Policies

Ask what the service provider's policies are, and make sure they state those in their documentation for the wedding videography packages. In particular, know what their policies are on cancellations and rescheduling. Especially if you want to have an outdoor wedding, nature may not see things your way. Also, know what the cutoff date will be for a refund so you know when you absolutely have to commit.

Editing Timeline

Not only will you want videos and deliverables, but you'll want the company to edit them and deliver them on a timeline. Ask for a commitment to deliver the final product by a certain date.

Tie the commitment to specific deliverables, too. For example, you might not require highly edited videos for social media posting so those should be delivered same-day or close to it. Conversely, the longer videos for DVD and digital files should be tightly edited, and those deliverables could take weeks if you want top-tier results.
